Evening dress of embroidered blue silk net with blue sequins interspaced with star shapes outlined in dark blue silk bugle beads, thinning towards the hem. Full length princess line with a low V-neck back and front, and it is sleeveless. The top of the shoulder strap is of plaited blue chiffon. There is a fluted basque of the same material, dipping at the front and shaped to a point at the centre back. The skirt flares from knee to hem. It fastens on the left side with hooks and eyes. The dress is mounted on a blue satin petticoat with a scalloped hem trimmed with a matching chiffon frill. The top is faced with écru net and the skirt is supported on a double layer of fine blue silk net, and a blue silk frill lined with matching chiffon. Stitched to a side seam of the petticoat is a white label machine-embroidered in yellow with 'Norman Hartnell, 10, Braton St., W.'.
