Place of origin |
Evening dress made of hand-woven rayon and silk. Short, tubular and sleeveless, with buttoned (button missing) side pleats at the waist. The straight across, slightly gathered neck, is plain at the front but the back has an attached chiffon strip as long as the dress, terminating in scallops of velvet. Shoulder straps of vulgar diamantés and 'pearl' buttons. The fabric is a vertical waved twill, yellow rayon on a scarlet silk warp, made upon its side. It is woven with a fishscale pattern in graduating tones of deep orange-to-pink tones suggesting rose colours. Deep fushia pink scallops are applied to the edge of the hem following the line of the fabric. From the hips downwards are ten horizontal lines of 'baby domes' shading from a red gold through various shades of red to magenta. The dress is lined with pink silk chiffon. The hem is finished by a double row of the scallops.
A white silk tag with the name 'Rose Petal' is sewn possibly to a pocket in the back hem.
