LEATHER SHOES
Salvatore Ferragamo, 1986
Leather, with cotton grosgrain bow
Salvatore Ferragamo’s intention in the 1920s was to make (in his words) ‘handmade shoes by mass production’. By the 1980s the quality of his machine-produced goods saw the company continuing to flourish under his widow, Wanda Ferragamo. The two shoe designs here are classic styles which feature discrete elements of decoration such as delicate inserts of silvered leather and a logo’d fabric bow.
