Place of origin |
Jumper of hand-knitted alpaca. Bold design influenced by swirling appliqué designs of Japanese Ainu robes. The large areas of pattern are intarsia knitted whilst the yarns for smaller areas of change in colour are carried across and woven into the reverse of the work. The black lines are 'Swiss darning' (embroidered after the knitting was complete). The different shades of yarn are natural alpaca colours.
