Tapestry sample woven in wool on cotton warps. White cotton warp of approximately 10 threads to the inch. Wool weft in white, dark green, pale green, blues, browns and purples. Pattern of purple discs arranged in a grid pattern on a dark background. At one end is a colour gradation from blue to white to blue. There is an area with no weft threads where the warp is separated by two pieces of white card. There is a fringe of cut warp threads.

Physical description
Tapestry sample woven in wool on cotton warps. White cotton warp of approximately 10 threads to the inch. Wool weft in white, dark green, pale green, blues, browns and purples. Pattern of purple discs arranged in a grid pattern on a dark background. At one end is a colour gradation from blue to white to blue. These sample pieces below represent the weavers' interpretation of the design. The smaller piece was used mainly to test the smallest area of colour which would appear as a round flat colour-disc, and not as a hexagonal pattern of woollen knots.
Object history
Experimental piece in preparation for weaving the tapestry 'Over All.' The piece is based on a preliminary study for the tapestry by the designer Harold Cohen.
