Place of origin |
Panel of silk with a yellow ground and a vertical pattern of a parrot regarding a butterfly. The bird is perched on a tree which grows out of a tub and its trunk is intertwined with flowers and various bizarre objects and patterns.
The pattern is brocaded in pastel coloured silks in mauve, pink and green, enhanced by plain, silver-gilt thread (filé) on a white core and silver gilt frost (frisé) thread on a bright yellow core. The brocading is bound in 1\4 twill. The pale green of the pattern is created by a patterned weft, the ground is a pale yellow.
The length is backed with a steel blue tabby silk and is edged with yellow braid which is patterned with plain silver-gilt thread.
