Tapestry. Venus and Adonis watch Atalanta and Hippomenes as Lions. Woven in coloured wools and silks on woollen warps. 24 warps to the inch. Venus, Adonis wearing breast plate and holding spear, and cupid, stroking a dog, form a group i the left foreground. Venus points to a lion and lioness (Atalanta and Hippomenes transformed) emerging from rocks in the middle distance of a verdant landscape. Border of formal leaves bound with ribbon. Mortlake mark on the bottom right border
