Jacket made of black velvet and is slightly waisted, is hip length and is double breasted with 6 buttons but with only two button holes. The collar has broad pointed revers, each with a button hole, that roll to the first button. There are two patch pockets at each hip and one left breast pocket. The sleeves are finished at the cuff with a slit and three buttons and button holes, the latter is artificial. Lining of black viscose as are the outside pockets. There are two inside breast pockets on either side also with a viscose lining to the pockets.

There is a support button inside the right front for a single button hole on the left front. Two spare buttons, one of the sleeve and one for the fronts, are sewn to the inside breast pocket. The makers label is stitched below the left inside breast pocket and is of white silk ribbon with the name woven in black with cerise and red squares between 'SAINT LAURENT'.

The jacket is cut with a C/B seam, side back and under arm seams and a dart down each front. The shoulders have small pads.
