Long shawl of printed wool. Printed with bright colours in an intricate pattern on a very finely woven worsted. The centre, left white, is invaded by sinuous shapes. A repeated pattern is composed of three flower heads on a stem which curves to encircle them. These repeat vertically three times in the width of the shawl, separated by stripes of floral meander and classical moulding. The colours are in red, orange, purple, green, blue and black appear to be block-printed, as lines where the pattern does nor register correctly can be seen at intervals. The silk edges of the shawl are pale green. The warp fringe is dyed in various colours. On the back of the shawl in one corner is a small smudged stamp.
