Scarf of printed wool with a black ground. The centre and edges are black. All round the edge runs a narrow white guard-stripe containing an angular meander of shawl flowers, alternately red outlined pink with a yellow centre, and blue outlined yellow with a red centre on a hatched stem in black and white.
The end borders are 25.5 inches deep and contains ground alternately bright red and light green running in bold chevrons across the scarf, the joins are covered by large plain shawl flowers in magenta-toned pink outlined in blue, blue outlined in pink, and yellow outlined in blue or black, on hatched foliage in black and white. Red triangles on the left at the top and bottom by this design are filled with triangles of similar flowers. The top and bottom of this border are delineated by a very narrow white guard-stripe of small flower heads and a classical running pattern. At the top there is a further guard-stripe with a yellow ground, followed by a cresting of shawl flowers into the black field.
The warp fringe is grouped and crimped.
