Place of origin |
Evening coat of pink woollen cloth with a design of lilies of the valley with scrolls in gold, beige, brown and acquamarine embroidered in shades of silk and satin and chain stitch. The design is arranged down the fronts, on the cuffs, pocket flaps, on the 'Watteau' pleat at the back, and on the belt.
The coat is full length and trained, straight and loosely cut at the front and fitted at the back. It fastens in the centre front with concealed covered buttons and has a mock fastening of larger buttons with a central embroidered motif. It has a narrow band collar and there are deep pointed turn-back cuffs on the long medium-wide sleeves and patch pockets with a deep pointed flap. At the back a deep loose pleat falls from the shoulders merging with the skirt at the waist. The hem is trimmed with an applied braid of pink, beige and brown twisted cord. The coat is lined with fine white woollen cloth and the fronts are faced with white silk.
