Court dress and train in white satin woven with a gold design of trees and pagodas. Bands of gold and pearl bead embroidered on net edges the low V-neckline in the front, the hem and the low waistline, and also edges the hem-length train hanging from the back. The front of the bodice is filled in with gold embroidered net and the shoulders and back are filled in with plain buff net. The waist has a large pearl motif with hanging links of pearl beads and a tassel of pearl and gold glass beads. The dress fastens under the train at the centre back and the bodice is lined with pink satin. The court train is made of the same fabrics and fastens to the shoulders with hooks and snaps.

Object history | Worn by the Ranee of Pudukota (née Mollie Fink) to a British Court in 1923. The donor's son said that his mother took great care to avoid causing offence to Queen Mary by wearing dresses that were too décolleté. |
