Napkin of linen damask with the Arms of Clanwilliam in the middle of the cloth in a floral wreath on an open field. The outer border consists of floral decoration, arranged in swags tied with ribbons with a bird in each corner. On the bottom edge between shamrocks is the woven inscription 'I W W COULSON MANUFACTRS LISBURN IRELAND'. The cloth is finely woven in a damask based on a satin of eight.

Object history | Registered File number 1985/861. The donor prepared the following notes: Ref: LD 67 i-xiii Clanwilliam crest is an uncrowned double headed eagle encircled by delicately drawn wreath of flowers. Flower sprigs in field between wreath and border of flowers and fruit interlaced with a pair of ribbons. In the four corners a falcon with outstretched wings. Below bottom diaper is the inscription IWW COULSON MANUFACTRS LISBURN IRELAND, on either side of the inscription are sprigs of shamrock, presumably Coulson's trademark. Warp 60; Weft ~ 48 Richard Meade Sale 2nd Earl of Clanwilliam b. 1766, married to Tchuschitz in Bohemia in 1793 Caroline, Countess Thun, succeeded to title in 1800. |
