Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Evening dress of machine-embroidered grey silk net and a pair of sleeves.
The dress, which is simply cut, is embroidered down the centre front and back, and the hemline and arms holes has pearl and metal beads. At the front are two straight panels joined from the hem as far as the waistline and open without fastenings as far as the shoulders. Band of embroidered ornamentation extends on either side of the open front and at the back of the neck. At regular intervals are small four-petalled in beadwork and are sewn over the net ground. The main design falls at the front and back of the skirt in the form of a coiled stem on either side bearing a star-shaped flower and tendrils worked in pearl and metal bands. The hemline is dagged in five sections, a lozenge-shaped compartment being formed with beads in each section. The sleeves, detached from the dress, are long, full and gathered in at the wrist and embroidered with metal beads.
