Textile
16th century (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Textile fragment of embroidered linen with linen thread and wool in shades of brown and green in encroaching gobelin stitch. The panel is patterned with a lattice work of large and small diamonds. The large diamonds are outlined by narrow lines of unworked canvas. The panel has been much cut about. Some of the large diamonds have been cut out and re-attached. One edge has also been cut, but part of it appears to be the original slightly scalloped edge, with a simple roll hem. Backed with canvas.
