Chemise of linen. The sleeves and small rectangular yokes of the bodice is made of fine linen and the main part of the body is made of coarser linen. The chemise has a low square neck and a straight body flaring slightly towards the hem. The main part of the body, centre front and back, is formed of two wide and four narrow strips of linen joined together and finished off at the top by narrow insertions of bobbin lace of a simple geometrical pattern. The chemise is finished off at the bottom by a narrow hem. Wide sleeves, each made of five strips of linen joined by narrow insertions of needlepoint lace of a geometrical pattern. The sleeves are gathered at the cuff into a narrow double band of linen embroidered on both sides in feather stitch and back stitch. Cuff and sleeve opening are bordered with narrow scalloped bobbin lace. The sleeves are gathered at the shoulder and the gathers are decorated with smocking stitched in a chevron pattern. The neck and sides of the yoke are ornamented with bands of needlepoint lace insertion in a geometric pattern and bordered, on the front of the neck and shoulders only, with narrow bobbin lace.
