A portion of a shoulder-band or clavus from a tunic is stitched onto a portion of orange woollen tunic using a rough whip stitich with white wool, Z spun. Egyptian, ca. AD 600-900. The band is tapestry woven wool, with colours on white warps. The band is of animals (cats or rabbits?) and floral shapes (butterfly?). Colours include white, blue, yellow, red, green and pink. The animals are bordered by geometric shapes (squares and Xs) also brightly coloured. 9x34 tpc, S spun. The background tunic is orange/brick-red, 11x18 tpc, S spun.
