Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Fichu border of embroidered and scalloped whitework, from a triangular kerchief. It consists of two sides and an extended, almost diamond-shaped panel to form the centre point. Elaborately patterned with large baroque flower heads linked by curving, leafy lines which form irregularly shaped cartouches. The pattern is worked with white cotton in buttonhole and double buttonhole stitches. The centre of the flowers and of the cartouches and the whole of the ground are worked with a variety of pulled fabric stitches to create large number of diaper and geometric patterns.
