Portion of a woollen pile carpet, knotted in colours on a warp of coarse linen threads. In the middle are the Royal Arms of England, quarterly, 1 and 4, azure, three fleurs-de-lys or, and 2 and 3 gules, three lions passant gardant or, within a garter-band bearing the inscription 'HONI . SOIT . QVI . MAL . Y . PENSE', surmounted by a crown and having a crowned lion and a red dragon, each standing on a scroll-work pedestal, as supporters. The date 'ANO 1600' and the letters 'E.R.' appear near the crown, and beneath is a label with the inscription 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' (mutilated by cutting). On the extreme right and left, is a tall conventional flowering plant. The pattern is in colours, the field inside the garter-band is white, and outside it is dark green.

It is lined on the back with canvas. The edges are bound with black braid.

Worn, wax-stained and repaired.
