Darning sampler with a ground panel of stiffened plain weave muslin with turned and hemmed edges. It is embroidered with coloured silks in chain and darning stitches, and the darning is worked in two or more colours in a variety of twill and chevron patterns, with the exception of two motifs which are worked with linen thread in tabby darning.

In the centre is a rose and four small sprigs outlined in chain stitch and worked in shaded darning. Above and below are two crosses in white darning and on either side are rows of four crosses in coloured darning.
