Object history | Description from the acquisition register Parasol, the cover of black silk, the stick of sycamore and carved and stained ivory, mounted in gold. The upper part of the stick has a continuous pattern of stags, hinds and hounds; the handle is carved in the form of a recumbent grey-hound. The stick is hinged. Red silk lining. 'As surviving executor of the late Mrs Sotheran's will, and in accordance with a wish expressed by her, which although not of testamentary effect was endorsed by Mr Sotheran prior to his death, I beg to send you herewith a small remembrance of her,' from Mr Emmet's letter of 1st Jan 1929 |
