This is a small parasol, covered with cream and blue beads in a pattern of oak leaves and a border in a Greek key design. It has an inside lining of white silk and a short white fringe at the cover edge and outside rosette. The stick is made from carved wood and is hinged to fold. The handle is bone carved in the shape of a dog's head, possibly a breed of racing dog. The ferrule is also carved bone, in a decorative hook shape, possibly to allow the wearer to attach the parasol to her waistband.
