Bridegroom's waistcoat of pale blue silk, embroidered with coloured silks. Part of a Norwegian bridegroom's costume purchased by the donor in 1865 from the original owner. The short waistcoat is cut close to the neck with an upright collar, and has a straight front. An embroidered design of curved stems bearing flowers and pomegranates decorates the collar, continuing down either side of the front opening. Eight dome-shaped silver buttons adorn the front, embossed with geometric designs.
The waistcoat is backed and partly lined with a printed cotton featuring small detached leaves in brown and light green on a buff ground. The collar is lined with a silk of red, green and yellow stripes.
