Place of origin |
Napkin of linen damask. The pattern runs in narrow bands across the length of the napkin. There are nearly four repeats in the width of the fabric, between narrow outer borders of scrolling foliage. There is no full repeat in the length.
The old and new town of Dresden stands linked by a bridge across the River Elbe. A small horseman rides across the bridge. On the river are sailing and rowing boats and ducks. On the near bank stands a man with a musket and a dog. The arms of the city and name 'DRES-DEN' are placed above the river and the words 'DER ELBE STROHM' below.
