Embroidered cap made from a folded rectangular piece of coarse linen. The centre back is seamed for the first 0.75 inch from the neck edge, and the remainder of the opening is pleated to form a small circular opening. The seam is worked with dark red silk in an open insertion stitch and the circular opening is edged with button hole stitch. A brim of red felt is attached to the front of the cap. it is covered with a gold braid and edged with a plaited braid of black wool which continues at each side to form long tassels. Tie-strings are attached to the front corners. The brim and the embroidered section of the cap are backed with plain linen.

The front flat portion is embroidered with silver and silver-gilt threads and silks in red, black, yellow and green in cross, tent, stem, double-running and satin stitches. Both sides of the cap are embroidered with the same design of pomegranates and flowers set within two straight borders containing floral sprigs.
