SLEEVELESS SWEATER Machine-knitted wool British: Anthony Powell for Sabre, 1971 This 'Shetland Pop Fair Isle' (British Vogue, 15 October 1971) is knitted in stocking stitch with ribbed edges. The geometric pattern was an attempt to break away from a predominant craze for pretty floral designs. It was worn over a long-sleeved, ribbed polo neck sweater with irregular stripes in equally brilliant colours. Given by Anthony Powell T.345-1979
