The stick is spermwhale ivory and bone, carved with leaves, spiral and geometric designs in sections and inlaid with silver. The stick bears a small gilt shield with the initials R S A. The ivory rondel is two pieces screwed together, with tortoiseshell inlaid at the top. There is a narrow silver ring between rondel and stick, and two silver eyelets. The ferrule is a modern replacement of brass.
