Object history
The ensemble was purchased from Mrs S. E. Magnusson (Sigríður Einarsdóttir), wife of Eiríkur Magnússon, an Icelandic scholar at the University of Cambridge. Eiríkur Magnússon frequently collaborated with William Morris to translate old Norse poetry into English. Mrs S. E. Magnusson has also gifed a collection of Icelandic silverwear to the Met.
