Circular hat with a low, rounded crown. Made from very fine, glossy straw, possibly Leghorn. The hat band is pale, buff silk velvet tied in a large, floppy bow towards the front. The brim is wider on the left front that the right. The crown is joined to the brim under the hat band and reinforced with coarser straw. There is a white silk head band on which is stitched the makers label, which is rectangular and woven in black and white; 'ROSE VALOIS, 18, Rue Royale, PARIS'.
