Woman’s smock of bleached linen with a square high neck and full sleeves. The front, back and sleeves are rectangular with triangular gores in each side seam and square gussets under the arms. There are ¾-inch (1.8 cm) wide cuffs and a ¾-inch (1.8 cm) border around the neck, all embroidered with whitework and drawn-thread work in linen thread. The sleeves are embroidered in whitework with a horizontal panel of cutwork and 2 of drawn and pulled thread work. The cuffs and neck are edged with a 1-½ inch (3.7 cm) border of needle lace. The cuffs fasten with a loop of thread; the buttons are later replacements
