Man's frock overcoat of heavy black serge. Double-breasted and it has a three button fastening with a button hole in each bowed lapel. All the main seams are raised, and at the centre back in a waist-seam with two buttons heading a vent and two stitched pleats. The pockets are set slightly on the slant, and these and the tight formed cuffs are piped. Lined with black satin.

Physical description
Man's frock overcoat of heavy black serge. Double-breasted and it has a three button fastening with a button hole in each bowed lapel. Frock coat 1902 At the end of the 19th century there was a wide range of coats to choose from. Frock coats were long at the front and a traditional choice for business dress. Worn with a waistcoat underneath, the heavy wool cloth of this example would have made it a good choice for colder weather.
