Black felt, man's top hat produced by London hatters Christy's. The model was named the 'Prince Albert' after the Prince Consort and husband of Queen Victoria, Albert of Saxe-Coberg Gotha.
Christy's was established in London in 1773 by Quakers, Miller Christy and Joseph Storrs in Whitehart Court, London. The company went on to establish a manufacturing centre in Stockport which concentrated on wool and felt fur hats while the London branch produced silk hats.
Today, Christys continue to be one of the UKs largest manufacturer of hats.
