Object history | From donor's letter dated Nov 27th 1929: "It was worn by my dear mother for her wedding in 1859, she told me it was Spitalfields silk and was bought at the shop of James Spence in St Paul's Churchyard. It is entirely a London product." Registered File number 1929/11277. NB: The silk is not distinctively Spitalfields, being a simple striped machine-woven silk. |
