Mantle made of maroon shot silk trimmed with applied frills with a scalloped border and a velvet border and spot pattern. The mantle is hip length, shaped to the shoulder and has a seam down the centre back. All the seams are faced. Each front is cut in one. A slightly gathered panel is attached below the waist at the back, seamed back at each side to allow an opening for the arms which is covered with a square cuff. The fronts meet and there is no fastening. The frills trim all the edges and form cuffs on the sleeves. Unlined. There is a hanging loop.
