Darning and buttonhole sampler. Linen panel embroidered with coloured silks. The sides, turned and secured with double herringbone stitches. The bottom, plain hemmed and decorated with zig-zag lines of buttonhole stitch. At the top, a deep hem secured with lines of back stitch and decorated with zig zag lines of feather stitch.

In the deep upper hem are five worked buttonholes. In the main panel are five patches of fancy darning and the inscription worked in cross stitch.
