Darning and buttonhole sampler of fine linen, embroidered with coloured silks. The bottom, plain hemmed and decorated with a line of double feather stitches. The sides, turned and secured with herringbone stitches. The deep top hem, secured with lines of back stitch and decorated with feather stitching.

In the deep upper hem, six worked buttonholes. In the main panel, five patches of fancy darning and the inscription in cross stitch.
