Evening dress of white silk crêpe 'en princesse'. The waist is shaped by vertical hand-stitched tucks, closer at the back with a flared skirt flowing into a rounded train. High waisted bodice trimmed with silk machine-embroidered net, re-embroidered with silk thread and pearls mounted in silver thread. The neck is low and square and filled with tulle. The sleeves are puffed with a graduated tulle fall. There are two insertions of embroidered net in the front of the bodice, and the skirt has an embroidered hem with pearls stitched in scroll pattern, above which are wreaths in satin stitch and pearls diminishing towards the waist. The dress fastens at the centre back with lacing and hooks and eyes. The bodice is boned and the makers name is woven into the petersham waistband. The dress is mounted over a white taffeta lining trimmed at the hem with two lace edged flounces and a band of double gathered ribbon. Machine-stitched and hand finished.
