Chemise shift of white linen consisting of two wide panels extending the length of the garment at the front and back with a small gusset at either side for fullness at the hem. There are two slits at the neck opening, falling across the shoulders which enable the front and back of the neck to open more fully. The sleeves are very short with underarm gussets. Run and fell seams with narrow hemstitched edgings with minute stitches. Darned.
