Place of origin |
Bustle of black, glazed linen with a printed, gilt stripe. The bustle consists of a 'tunnel' formed of 11 hoops, inserted through the fabric, expanding from waist to hem. The waistband ties in the front with tapes, and there are diagonally cut panels attaching it to the rear hoops. The hoops, possibly made of whalebone, are covered in black and white check and are inserted through white tapes which are machine stitched to the garment.
