Type SS puppets have round wooden heads. This head is painted dark pink with a large smiling mouth painted red and white; large eyes painted blue, black and white with purple eyeshadow and black arched brows; a small curved line has been painted on each side of the mouth and under each eye. The nose is an attached small rounded button. Hands are of moulded composition painted dark pink. The character wears a yellow pointed felt cap. The hair is pink nylon floss glued to the back of the head. Wearing blue and white spotted and red and white spotted cotton suit with a large yellow felt collar trimmed with red braid. Parts - head with dowel neck; unpainted wood body with a separate unpainted wood semi-circular bottom torso; wooden tube shaped feet painted yellow; two plain dowel sticks for arms attached to hands; two dowel lengths for legs on metal hinging at feet. Parts strung together. Stringing of multicoloured threads - two metal loops on the head; one to the body back; one through each hand; one to each thigh. Controls; two plain bars of wood linked by a large metal clip with two metal eyelets each surrounded by coloured plastic caps.
Stamped PELHAM PUPPET on the top which has a large metal hanging hook. Clowns shown in both Pelham Puppets catalogues have different outfits.
