Type SS puppets have round wooden heads. This head is painted dark pink with a wide smiling mouth painted red and white, large eyes painted blue, black and white with purple eyeshadow; a small curved line has been painted under each eye and on each side of the mouth. The nose is an attached small rounded button. Hands are of moulded composition painted dark pink. The character wears a black felt cap with a red cotton and feather top panel, red cotton frock jacket lined with grey
material and decorated with yellow felt 'buttons' and a yellow thread X on left chest. Trousers of grey material with a red stripe down the outside legs. Parts - head with dowel neck; flat sided unpainted wood body with a separate unpainted wood semi-circular bottom torso; wooden tube shaped feet painted black; two plain dowel sticks for arms attached to hands; two dowel lengths for legs on metal hinging at feet. Parts strung together. Stringing of multi coloured threads - two metal loops on the head; one to the body back; one through each hand; one to each thigh. Controls; two plain bars of wood linked by a large metal clip
