Fragment of Brussels woven carpet with a pattern consisting of large sprays of flowers and ferns in two shades of vivid red with smaller amounts of black, brown, white and two shades of yellow. The pattern is on a cream ground, heavily patterned in black, brown and yellow. Strands of these latter colours are mixed to make one unit of pattern warp.
It is an unfaded fragment, cut from the surplus folded under a complete carpet which has a border of roses and fern en suite with the central design.
