Evening Dress
1923-1924 (made)
Place of origin |
Ensemble consisting of an evening dress, a pair of knitted stockings and a pair of shoes.
The dress has a golden yellow silk lining with a sandy yellow silk georgette top fabric, decorated with gilt thread embroidery and gilt glass beads in gold and copper. The bateau neck, sleeveless dress falls straight from the shoulders with no opening. The scalloped hem is slightly longer at the sides.
The stockings are made from plain biege knitted rayon and have narrow openwork clocks. The stockings show signs of wear and repair, with several holes, some darned.
The shoes have rounded toes, 2" heels and a strap with a metal button fastening. A label inside states "wide fit". They are worn and the original silver-coloured upper fabric is discoloured.
