This portion of a shoulder band depicts common hunting scene motifs including a warrior with sword and shield, accompanied by animals of the chase. It would once have adorned a linen tunic and was most likely produced in Syria. The purple thread has faded green.
Historic display label:

SILKS, 7th - 9th century. Weft-faced compound twill, 1/2 and 1\2. Warp of / silk, proportion 1 main to 1 binding. Weft of silk of 2 colours, 2 picks of each in turn. Woven for use as dress trimmings. In the 4 pieces on the left the symbolism is probably Christian. The pattern of the piece at the top includes an undeciphered Islamic inscription. From unrecorded sites in Egypt.
