Carpet sample of worsted. The sample shows a portion of the design of the Ardabil carpet made roughly the same size but in different colouring. The area represented covers some of the pendants attached to part of one corner medallion, and a section of border with guard stripes. The field is in buff, and with floral stems in pale blue, pink, green, yellow and cream with a little dark brown used for outlines. These colours are repeated in the rest of the carpet. The pendants have green, pink, white and yellow grounds. The corner medallion has a yellow ground with pink and blue flowers and arabesques. The main border is on a blue ground, the inner guard stripes on buff and pink, and the outer stripe on a deeper buff.
On the back of the sample are sewn two cloth labels.
