A 'small farmer', Thomas Godfrey, aged 67, is recorded as having lived on Portway, Melbourn, Cambridgeshire in 1881. He was living with his brother John, 69, and his wife Marry Ann, 56. In 1891, Mary Ann Godfrey is recorded as a widow, a farmer, and was living at the property alone.
