The subject of this statuette is probably a parody of the story of Venus and the shepherd Paris. Paris judged Venus the most beautiful goddess and presented her with an apple. This work is signed on the reverse of the base.

Physical description
Statuette, marble. Boy and girl. The children are standing each with one foot advanced and with an arm around the other's shoulder. The child on the left (the hair indicates a girl) holds a strip of drapery with her right hand and looks upwards. The child on the righ (with short hair, therefore probably a boy) is offering her a fruit, presumably an apple. the girl is naked except for a strip of drapery which is looped over her left shoulder and falls to the ground behind. The boy wears a tunic, which is open at the front, exposing the body as far as the naval.
