Dish fo green glass, free blown, pontil ground off. It is a flat dish with a simple low upturned rim. There is metal appliqué and it has been bronzed, silvered and gilded. The glass has a "bronze" iridised front surface. The relief design is of a bird perched on a flowering crysantheum plant, flanked by bamboo, a bee and a dragonfly.

Gallery label	This is an unusual piece. The glass dish is similar to Webb's 'Bronze' glass, but other examples with metal mounts of this type are not known. The metalwork is of high quality, hand-chiselled and applied with gold- and silver-leaf. The design is in a Japanese style, very popular at the period.
Object history	The quality of the appliqué work, as well as its rarity, suggest that this may have been an Exhibition piece. The reference given in the sale catalogue to Hajdamach's British Glass, p.320, to Webb's "mounted" bronze glass, is according to the author not appliqué work at all, but ormoulu-type mounting.
