The Atelier de Glatigny was a ceramics studio established at Versailles, outside Paris, in the late 1890s by a group of anonymous artists, potters and glaze chemists with the aim of producing pieces comparable with the work of studio potters but at lower prices. The company specialized in flammée glazes, as on this vase, and crystalline effects.

Two-handled vase of grey stoneware with a mottled green-grey high temperature flaméeglaze. Ovoid in shape with handles applied at the rim to the mid-body.
