Object history | Bought, £6. 16s. 7d. One of a group of vessels bought from the makers, all of them imitating known pieces: this is a copy of a dish in the Turin Museum made by Antonio Maria Cuzio of Pavia at the end of the 17th century. The technique of decoration is called sgraffito. Carlo Loretz was a ceramic painter who worked in a number of factories and founded his own in Milan in 1896; it was continued until 1909 by his son, Giano. |
